Is this suitable for commercial environments?

For saunas installed in gyms, spas, hotels and other high-use environments, additional timber care is required due to increased exposure to perspiration, moisture and repeated heating and cooling cycles.

Sauna timber is supplied untreated unless otherwise stated. For commercial installations, we strongly recommend:

• Treating benches and other high-contact timber surfaces with a suitable sauna bench treatment or paraffin oil before first use.
• Using towels or sauna bench covers to minimise direct moisture absorption.
• Wiping benches dry regularly throughout the day and after periods of heavy use.
• Allowing the sauna to ventilate and dry thoroughly after use.
• Inspecting and maintaining the timber regularly, including reapplying sauna treatment when required.

Natural timber will expand, contract and move in response to changes in heat and moisture. Correct treatment and maintenance are particularly important in commercial environments to minimise warping, cracking and movement.
